CoroTap 400 is a high-speed, chip-free forming tap suitable for both through- and blind-holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminium and HRSAs. Versatile and optimized forming taps are available, with and without oil grooves, in an assortment of diameters, grades, coatings and thread forms to suit a range of applications.

For basic hole size calculations, use the appropriate formulas for forming taps. D = Hole diameter (mm, inch)
TD = Nominal thread diameter (mm, inch)
TP = Thread pitch (mm, inch)

When the hole is analyzed, have a look at the workpiece material, component shape and quantity.

Based on application material and hole specifications, select the correct tap.

Coolant is critical to a successful tapping operation. The coolant supply influences chip evacuation, thread quality and tool life.

To ensure a good tapping operation and a high-quality finished product, follow these steps.

The type of hole to be tapped determines which chamfer type is best suited to use. There are three different chamfer types, B, C and E.

- For steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- Can be used for all types of holes
- Up to 3.5 x threading depth
- Chip-free threading solution
- Increases the strength of the thread in some materials, e.g. aluminium

- Faster than cutting tap
- Often gives a longer tool life
- One tool for both through and blind holes
- Stabile design = lower risk for breakage
- No chips
- Quick tool change
- Stronger threads due to cold work hardening
- Very good thread surface
It is important to always be aware of the type of cutting fluid used in the machine as well as the oil content.
