Tool mounting
Productive boring
Requirements:
- 1 adapter
- 2 slides
- Retract setting screws as far as possible by turning them counterclockwise.
- Fit slides to adapter. Pin on slide must enter slot in adapter.
- Place washers on clamping screws.
- Push slides as far as possible towards the center of the adapter. Tighten the clamping screw finger tight, so that the slides can be easily set without tilting.
Step-boring
Requirements:
- 1 adapter
- 2 slides
- 1 shim
- Retract setting screws as far as possible by turning them counterclockwise.
- Place shims on one of the two support faces on the adapter.
Note: Total depth of cut should be divided into two equal parts to keep the tool as balanced as possible. - Fit slides to adapter. Pin on slide must enter slot in adapter.
- Place washers on clamping screws.
- Push slides as far as possible towards the center of the adapter. Tighten the clamping screw finger tight, so that the slides can be easily set without tilting.
Single-edge boring
Requirements:
- 1 adapter
- 1 slide
- 1 cover
- Mount cover on the support face.
Note: The cover has a location pin which has to fit into location hole in adapter.

The two slides are set to same diameter and height.

The two slides are set to different diameters and heights.

Only one slide is used.
Tool setting
Productive boring
- Mount inserts.
- Place adapter in tool pre-setter.
- Set desired diameter on tool pre-setter.
- Rotate adapter until largest diameter on selected slide is found.
- Lock this position.
- Turn setting screw clockwise until insert nose radius reaches set diameter.
Note: Setting screw can only be used for setting from smaller to larger diameter. - Tighten clamping screws.
- Repeat for slide 2.
- Tighten the clamping screws. See handling instruction below to get the recommended tightening torque for your boring tool (can be done outside tool pre-setter if needed).
- Check diameter and length of tool in the tool pre-setter. If possible, transfer tool data to machine control system.
Step-boring
- Mount inserts.
- Place adapter in tool pre-setter.
- Set desired diameter on tool pre-setter for smallest diameter.
- Locate slide with shim.
- Rotate adapter until largest diameter on selected slide is found.
- Lock this position.
- Turn setting screw clockwise until insert nose radius reaches set diameter. Note: Setting screw can only be used for setting from smaller to larger diameter.
- Tighten clamping screws.
- Repeat for slide 2 but set desired final diameter on tool pre-setter.
- Tighten the clamping screws. See handling instruction below to get the recommended tightening torque for your boring tool (can be done outside tool pre-setter if needed).
- Check diameters and lengths of both slides in the tool pre-setter. If possible, transfer tool data to machine control system.
