Choice of design
- For steel and hardened steel, use a cutter with neutral design for maximum tool life
- For stainless steel and heat resistant super alloys, use a positive-design cutter with light cutting action for best performance and tool life
Toroid cutters
The toroid end mills operate with two overlapping round inserts. This design prevents the cutting speed to drop to zero, as with a ball nose cutter.
Safe cutting action and accessibility in narrow pocket milling
- Toroid cutters can considerably improve productivity and are very suitable for light roughing, rest milling and semi-finishing operations
- Excellent for profiling, when a constant stock is a prerequisite for milling near net shape
